ZANZIBAR & SWAHILI COAST

Zanzibar Island is a beautiful tropical landmass clying around 35 km off the Indian Ocean coastline, just north of the Capital and main port of entry Dar es Salaam. Zanzibar is a wonderful, romantic, historic and stunningly beautiful tropical island. There is a vast range of things to do, notably some sensational diving, snorkeling and kite-surfing, as well as some superb historic and cultural activities. Bagamoyo, with its reach history, lies 75 Km North of Dar Es Salaam and it is the Capital of the Swahili Coast. It is the main centre for dhow sailboat building. The Kaole Ruins contain the remnants of two mosques and 30 tombs, dated back to the 13th century. We can arrange daily trip with visit of the Historical sites, Livingstone museum, Tinga Tinga market and crocodile farm.

Tanzania contains some 20 percent of the species of Africa’s large mammal population, found across its reserves, conservation areas, marine parks. Dar Es Salaam is the starting point for those who opt to visit the Southern Circuit. Saadani National Park, where beach meets bush, lies in the center of the historical triangle of Bagamoyo – Pangani – Zanzibar and it is the closest National Park to Dar Es Salaam: game drives, walking safaris, birdwatching – each of them giving a different perspective on this unique area! Mikumi National Park is bordered to the south with the Selous Game Reserve and  its landscape is often compared to that of the Serengeti. The fauna includes many species characteristic of the African savannah. Chances of seeing a lion who climbs a tree trunk is larger than in Manyara! Selous Game Reserve is the oldest and largest protected area in Africa, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home of the most spectacular wildlife population. The best activities are Photo safaris, Boat safaris and Walking safaris. Mtemere Gate is located 250 km from Dar Es Salaam, approximately 5 hours of drive.

For the ones who love dancing there are plenty of nightclubs and pubs where visitors can be pulled by the rhythm of Bongo Fleva, the nick name of East African hip hop music, which is a derivative of American hip hop, with additional influences from reggae, R&B, afrobeat, dancehall and traditional taarab.

MAASAI TRADITION

Maasai are a Nilotic ethnic group inhabiting central and southern Kenya and northern Tanzania. They are among the best known local populations due to their residence near the many game parks of the African Great Lakes, and their distinctive customs and dress.
